In-person Counseling
In-person services follow traditional counseling methods. Clients arrange a 50-minute appointment and meet with Dr. Strickland for ongoing treatment in one of his offices is Phoenix, AZ. Clients are generally seen weekly, although appointments are arranged based on availabilty of the schedule.
Telephonic Counseling
Due to the dynamic and changing nature of the athlete, traditional methods are not always available. Therefore, Dr. Strickland does offer telephonic counseling services to meet the clients needs for ongoing assistance. Similarly, telephone appointments are made and arranged so that the athlete and Dr. Strickland are both available. Calls can range from 30 t0 50 minutes and length and arranged based on availability.
On-line Counseling
With the availability of multimedia, maintaining contact with persons has become easier. Dr. Strickland incorporates email and on-line consultation as part of his practice. Athletes have the ability to email Dr. Strickland and ask questions, present scenarios, and provide race reports for analysis of what might have occurred during an event.
While many Psychologist beleive that the tradition face-to-face methods of counseling are still most beneficial, they are not always most available for the client. Dr. Strickland attempts to meet the needs of his clients no matter where they may be competing in the world. By doing so the client feels supported to improve their performance.
